After your vehicle is Imported to Canada you should have following documents :

1.       Original CERTIFICATE OF TITLE 

This document MUST HAVE stamp from  US CUSTOMS EXPORT TEAM with date of export.

2.       ORIGINAL or COPY of Vehicle Bill of SALE from a dealer or seller whom you purchased your vehicle.

3.       CANADA CUSTOMS – VEHICLE IMPORT  “FORM 1”

4.       CANADA CUSTOMS GST RECEIPT ( a proof of GST PAYMENT )

 

WHAT ELESE YOU MUST HAVE and DO TO SUCESSFULY REGISTER YOUR VEHICLE IN ONTARIO

1.       Obtain RECALL CLEARANCE LETTER from your vehicle manufacturer. If your car has any outstanding recalls they will be performed by authorized vehicle dealer free of charge. 2.       PAY Registrar of Imported Vehicles Fee $220.35  ( www.riv.com  - Online Payment ) you will need “FORM1” to enter information into payment screen.

3.       FAX or E-Mail  RECALL CLEARANCE LETTER  to Fax: 1-888-642-9899 (exclusively for recall service), Email: recall@riv.ca

a)      After you pay - FAX copy of your “FORM 1” to RIV   - 416-636-0366

b)      24hours later call RIV - 1-888-848-8240 and ask them to email you or FAX – “FORM 2” – INSPECTION FORM

4.       Drive your vehicle to any CANADIAN TIRE for Inspection .  

You will need there:

·         FORM1

·         FORM2

·         TITLE

 You paid for this $220.35 and they will not charge any more money for this inspection.

a)      Make sure your vehicle has daytime running lights, French language airbag labels, speedometer in both MILES/HOUR AND KILOMETERS/HOUR or just KILOMETERS/HOUR. After successful

5.       Do emission test and safety certificate at any auto mechanic you want.

6.       Go to Ministry of Transportation office and register your vehicle to receive Canadian Ownership

You will need following documents in order to register your vehicle:

·         “FORM 1”

·         “FORM 2” – STAMPED after RIV Inspection in Canadian Tire

·         Original Certificate of Title

·         Canadian Drivers License

·         Safety Certificate

·         Emission Test PASS

·         BILL OF SALE

·         GST Receipt from US CUSTOMS
